Launch of the AI-Electromagnetic Warfare Research Center
FUNZIN joined the partners — Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI), Hanwha Systems, and KAIST* — for the official launch of the AI-Electromagnetic Warfare Research Center on August 27.
The center will serve as a key platform for industry-academia-research collaboration, focusing on foundational research to secure core AI-EW technologies and developing the next generation of specialized AI-EW talent.
KAI CEO Cha Jae-byoung, Hanwha Systems Executive Vice President Gwak Jong-woo, FUNZIN CEO Shirly, and KAIST Dean of Research Affairs Cho Byung-kwan were welcomed as honored attendees at the ceremony.
FUNZIN's Leadership Role
As a specialist in defense-focused AI, FUNZIN will spearhead research on hyper-connected defense environments and Cognitive Electronic Warfare (Cognitive EW) at the center.
Our research will be centered on two core pillars: (1) advancing AI Staff Officer technology to enhance command-level decisions and (2) creating an AI engine that automatically identifies and prioritizes EW threats.
The establishment of this center is a milestone, creating a launchpad for FUNZIN to lead the future of defense technology. It brings together our deep expertise in defense AI and the collaborative power of academia and industry. Our vision extends beyond defense. We will continue to drive customer-specific AI research in robotics and mobile communications, contributing to the commercialization of dual-use technologies—applicable to both civilian and military fields—and leading investment in next-generation R&D
FUNZIN remains committed to leading defense AI innovation, preparing for the hyper-connected battlefield of the future, and nurturing the next generation of talent.
